A dear friend of ours passed away last week. He had been a long time resident next door to our little mountain cottage. He and my husband became fast friends despite the 30 year age difference between them, back when we first bought the place almost nine years ago. Mike was a die hard old Yankee, with something to say about everything and a big, big heart. He made me laugh often, especially when he called out our dog's names. It seems he could almost never remember that Maisy was not "Daisy" and Honey was not "Bunny". We shared many Thanksgivings with Mike up at our little retreat. Mike never married, never had children. He was a grizzly, lovable old bachelor and he will be missed a lot. Just wanted to take this opportunity in my blog to say good bye and thank you, Mike, for the part you played in our lives, especially in the rich relationship you shared with my husband, Fritz.

I am so sorry for your loss. But what a blessing your family must have been these last nine years.
